Mr. Donahue's Library

My boss built his entire house himself, from the dirt it was sitting on. He has a climbing wall, a kiva fire circle, and a courtyard that is open to the outside in the summer and enclosed by windows in the winter. Not to mention an amazing library. This library is built with aspens and dirt, it has a giant window facing west with a window seat you can climb up into. Since I was little I've wanted a library like this one.

The way he talked about his house, it was as if he just decides to add another room, on a whim, and then does it. On top of all of this he runs a publishing company out of his office and has translated all of Kepler's Astronomia Nova.

He had the Lab Assistents over for Lasagna the other night. We walked out to his house, He lives in the mountains just past all of the rich people. He bought the land in the 70s when nothing else was there: six acres of land that would go for ten times as much now. I admire his lifestyle. When he wants to do something he just does it. If he needs another room on his house, he'll build it. If he can't find a publisher that will publish his translation the way he wants it, he'll start his own company.

And the stars. You can see them on campus, but on this man's property it is so dark that you can't see four inches in front of your face. I kept tripping because I was looking at the sky. The stars were overwhelming.

This is true. It would be amazing if you came. You can see the milky way! We could go have tea and strawberry shortcake.
